Privacy Policy

Sierra Lights is the holiday lighting service of Sierra Window & Property Services ("Sierra Lights", "we", "us"), based in Whistler, British Columbia. This policy explains what personal information we collect through sierralights.ca and our Sierra Lights lead forms on Facebook and Instagram, how we use it, and the choices you have.

We handle personal information in line with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

What we collect

When you ask for a quote on our website. Your name, email address, phone number and property address, the package you are interested in, any message you add, and the page you sent the form from.

When you use our lead form on Facebook or Instagram. Your name, email address, phone number, the address of the property and the package you are interested in. Meta may fill some of these in for you from your profile; you can edit them before you submit.

When you email, call or message us. Whatever you choose to tell us.

When you visit the website. Like most websites, ours and the services listed under "Cookies and tracking" receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view and the page that sent you here.

How we use it

To reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote and plan your lighting design.
To schedule installation, maintenance and takedown, keep customer records, invoice and follow up on the service.
To measure how well our website and advertising work, and to show our ads to people who have visited our website.
To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for anything unrelated to our services.

Cookies and tracking

Our website uses the following tools. Some of them set cookies, which are small files stored by your browser.

Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms). Records page visits and when the quote form is submitted, so we can measure our Facebook and Instagram ads and show ads to people who have visited our site. Sets cookies such as _fbp.
Google Ads tag (Google). Records when the quote form is submitted from an ad visit and builds advertising audiences of people who have visited our site. Sets cookies such as _gcl_au.
Cloudflare Web Analytics (Cloudflare). Counts page visits and measures how quickly pages load. It does not use cookies.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings and the website will still work. You can also manage how ads are shown to you in your Facebook and Instagram ad preferences and in Google's My Ad Center.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the business, and only what they need to do that:

Google Workspace, for our email and the spreadsheet where quote requests are recorded.
Cloudflare, which hosts our website and processes the quote form.
Meta and Google, for advertising measurement as described above. Enquiries sent through our Facebook and Instagram form are also held by Meta.
Our website and marketing provider, which manages the website and our advertising and receives a copy of each enquiry to make sure it arrives.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it. Some of these providers store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to respond, quote and follow up, including for next season if you ask us to. If you become a customer, we keep your records for as long as we provide services to you and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting rules require. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

tell you what personal information we hold about you and how we have used it;
correct information that is wrong or out of date;
stop contacting you about a quote;
delete your enquiry, unless we need to keep it for legal or accounting reasons.

How we protect it

We limit access to the people who need it, use secure (HTTPS) connections on our website and use established providers who maintain their own security. No website or email system is completely secure, so please do not send us payment card details by email or through our forms.

Children

Our services are for property owners and managers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
